Getting a call from someone like Lidia and Eric is like getting a gift on Christmas. They didn’t just call to inquire about our work and our packages but instead they just had to have us at their wedding no matter what! Magda and I were flattered as you can imagine. Add to that we go way back with Lidia to Saturday Polish school and Polish church in Ottawa when we were younger. See, Magda and I started dating when we were about 16 years old and and Lidia was in my class and remembers it all. How cool is that?
We knew this day was going to be one to remember. Take a wedding, add some Polish people, and you know you’ve got a recipe for awesomeness! Everyone was having such a fun time curling up from laughter at the speeches, going nuts at the photobooth (our first one in Ottawa, holaaaa!), killing it on the dancefloor and someone even owned the dancefloor with Michael Jackson’s entire Billie Jean routine (Mateusz, I’m lookin’ at you!).
I also have to mention something incredibly unique. Lidia sewed her own dress. Yes. She made a wedding gown for herself! Can you believe it? We were dying to see it after seeing facebook update after update, and when we got to see her in it on the big day it was breathtaking. And she made her own cake…no biggie, right? Go Lidia!!!
Lidia and Eric chose the the Notre Dame Cathedral Basilica in Ottawa for their wedding. It is honestly one of the most spectacular churches in Ottawa and every time we shoot there we are in awe at the detail and the history. We took photos at Major’s Hill Park behind the Chateau Laurier and then headed over for some more wedding photos at the abandoned Prince of Wales Bridge that runs across the Ottawa river. Lidia and Eric were so happy to be with each other. It was such a pleasure being with them and just enjoying the young couple’s energy and love, and we are blessed to have had the opportunity to work with them!
After an absolutely awesome time with Lidia and Eric, making new friends, eating some great food and dancing our butts off…we would like to share with you some of our best shots of the day below.
