And so the day has finally come for Marina and Konrad to get married! Like I said in the engagement post, I have known Konrad since my early elementary school days in Ottawa back in ESL class (yes, I went to ESL…) so it was a particularly exciting day to see him tie the knot! We are so happy that Konrad found Marina. They suit each other perfectly and if there is one person who can deal with Konrad’s numerous hobbies…it’s Marina. Speaking of hobbies, did I mention that she made her own wedding gown? Yes. The gown you see in the photos below was made by Marina.
It was an insanely hot Saturday but we were so thankful that the forecast changed and it decided not to rain. I’ll take hot and steamy over downpour any day, although a slight drizzle always makes for beautiful overcast light as any photographer knows! The wedding ceremony was held in St Patrick’s Basilica, one of Ottawa’s oldest and beautiful churches. And for the wedding reception we drove all the way down to the Baldachin Inn in Merrickville which is a small town with lots of little shops, cafes and an overload of character.
This was one of the craziest receptions of the year for sure. Marina’s side is Russian, Konrad’s side is Polish, add to that a ton of food and lots of vodka, inject a fabulous amount of entertainment by the Impuls music band, and you can imagine what it was like! It was also the first time we have heard the Numa Numa song (Dragostea Din Tei) performed live…and it was awesome! Thank you to Marina and Konrad for choosing us to photograph one of the most important days of your life. Magda and I loved spending time with your open hearted families and we absolutely loved capturing you two in love. We wish you a lifetime of happiness together.
