Bobo + Tin | An Engagement Photo Session in beautiful Vancouver

We are so happy to finally be able to share some images from Bobo and Tin’s Vancouver get away wedding! Today we are posting their really cute engagement/pre-wedding/rehearsal dinner/whatever ya wanna call it photos! :)

It’s a very special photoshoot because Bobo and Tin emailed us a very long time ago all the way from Vancouver pouring their hearts out to us. It was a really really touching email which made Magda and I immediately fall in love with them! They told us about their day, their family, themselves, and even sent us super adorable photos of themselves. I will leave the rest for the wedding blog post but we honestly can’t get over how amazing it is to meet and work with people like this. This is what drives us.

Anyways, after flying out to Vancouver we met Bobo and Tin at the gorgeous Rowena’s Inn on the River which sits on the Sand Piper Golf Club. When we got there we came upon Bobo and Tin in the middle of playing games with their bridal party all dressed to match. If the matching striped shirts don’t make you smile then I’m sure the little flower girl will! Oh and to top the day off, we got to spend the evening eating and partying with Bobo and Tin’s family and friends! We didn’t know what to day other than give them big hugs all day long :)

We cannot wait to share the wedding photos but for now, here is what happened the day before…

My-An + Frank | Montreal Vietnamese Wedding at the Sofitel Hotel

You may remember My-An and Frank from a while back when we posted their adorable engagement photos. Well, today we are thrilled to share the images from their very special wedding day!

It’s not every day that we get to shoot a traditional Vietnamese wedding so Magda and I were extra excited. A tea ceremony followed by numerous wardrobe changes by My-An and a whole lotta Vietnamese food provided us with endless photographic possibilities…and full stomachs too! We absolutely loved everything about the colorful dresses, the red lips, the beautiful jewelery and of course the warm hearts that every friend and family member had during the day.

We started off with the tea ceremony where My-An and Frank paid their respects to their ancestors and got their blessings from their family members. My-An then received jewellery as per tradition, and before we knew it they were married! I have to tell you, it takes a lot of planning to let hundreds of people into your home, but somehow, they got it done. We worked with the always wonderful Cristina and Robert Cato of IOAN Films and it was a fun challenge of who can find the best spot to shoot the ceremony because once you pick a spot, friends and family gathered and we were stuck! ;)

After a change from My-An’s beautiful traditional gown and headdress we took some wedding photos at the McGill University Downtown Campus and finally settled down for the cocktail and reception at the Sofitel Hotel. After blowing us away with a rehearsed ballroom dance, it was a night to remember. So please enjoy our favourite photos from the wedding and we wish My-An and Frank the best life together they could possibly imagine. Thank you!

Stephanie + Stephen | Engagement Session at Les Enfants Terribles Restaurant

And we’re back! Magda and I have been super busy these past few weeks and we just recently got back from Vancouver where we were fortunate enough to shoot a beautiful wedding as well as see family and catch up with old friends. Now we are back in the office and today we are thrilled to share a very special engagement photoshoot we did with Stephanie and Stephen!

Stephanie and Stephen first met us way back at the Bridal Boudoir Affair here in Montreal last year while they were on the prowl for a wedding photographer. Fast forward to a couple months ago when they got back to us that they would love to have us cover their wedding, yay! For them it takes some extra planning because the wedding will take place at the Majestic Colonial resort in Punta Cana this December! Stephanie and Stephen both know exactly what they want and along with careful planning they decided to take a photographer (or two) along with them for the ride.

It was very important for them to also have a pre-wedding photo session done here in Montreal, and that brings us to today’s post!

We started off at a restaurant near Montreal’s famous Mount-Royal mountain (hence the name) at a really unique and cool restaurant called Les Enfants Terribles Brasserie. The decor and design of the place was just begging for a photoshoot! Stephanie looking stunning in her red dress and Stephen looking equally elegant, they chose to sit down for some coffee because that is how they met (How cute). With a change of wardrobe, a few perfectly chosen locations by them and lots of laughter, we came back with many beautiful images of which we would like to share our favourites with you.

Stephanie and Stephen, you two are a blast to work with and I would be lying if I didn’t say we were at least a little bit excited for your wedding on the beach! We can’t wait to capture your day but now you’ve forced us to hit the gym even harder ;)

Marina + Konrad | Merrickville, Ontario Wedding at the Baldachin Inn

And so the day has finally come for Marina and Konrad to get married! Like I said in the engagement post, I have known Konrad since my early elementary school days in Ottawa back in ESL class (yes, I went to ESL…) so it was a particularly exciting day to see him tie the knot! We are so happy that Konrad found Marina. They suit each other perfectly and if there is one person who can deal with Konrad’s numerous hobbies…it’s Marina. Speaking of hobbies, did I mention that she made her own wedding gown? Yes. The gown you see in the photos below was made by Marina.

It was an insanely hot Saturday but we were so thankful that the forecast changed and it decided not to rain. I’ll take hot and steamy over downpour any day, although a slight drizzle always makes for beautiful overcast light as any photographer knows! The wedding ceremony was held in St Patrick’s Basilica, one of Ottawa’s oldest and beautiful churches. And for the wedding reception we drove all the way down to the Baldachin Inn in Merrickville which is a small town with lots of little shops, cafes and an overload of character.

This was one of the craziest receptions of the year for sure. Marina’s side is Russian, Konrad’s side is Polish, add to that a ton of food and lots of vodka, inject a fabulous amount of entertainment by the Impuls music band, and you can imagine what it was like! It was also the first time we have heard the Numa Numa song (Dragostea Din Tei) performed live…and it was awesome! Thank you to Marina and Konrad for choosing us to photograph one of the most important days of your life. Magda and I loved spending time with your open hearted families and we absolutely loved capturing you two in love. We wish you a lifetime of happiness together.

Vietnamese Wedding in Montreal | Sneak Peek

Phew, the day after a wedding is always tough. Legs are numb, back is stiff but it is always worth it! I woke up this morning and started backing up the photos from yesterday’s colorful Vietnamese wedding here in Montreal held at the Sofitel hotel. My-An and Frank had one of the most original traditional Vietnamese weddings and we cannot wait to share all the photos with you because they are amazing! I had to log in this morning and show you what My-An looked like in one of her three dresses that she wore during the day. Check back in a few weeks for the whole shebang!
