Izabella + Eddy | Montreal Wedding at the Sofitel Hotel

Iza and Eddy became our friends the night they first came by our place to talk to us about their day to the countless emails Iza and Magda shared together talking about the wedding, dogs and anything in between! Iza and Eddy are both such caring people and honestly made us feel more like guests at their wedding rather than working photographers. After Iza’s dad invited us over for brunch the next day and her mom hugging us during the reception, it was clear who Iza gets her warm heart from. With Iza being from Polish/Austrian descent and Eddy being Lebanese, you can only imagine how awesome the party was. The dancing and music (provided by Ti-Amo Productions) made everyone dance a mixture of Polka, Waltz and the most energetic and fun Lebanese dance called the Debke.

The wedding was held in the heart of Montreal’s Old Port at the Notre Dame Basilica and the reception was held at the fabulous Sofitel Hotel on Sherbrooke street downtown Montreal right next to the Museum of Fine Arts. Iza chose a green theme to their wedding and Alain Simon Fleurs created beautiful flower arrangements to match along with Elegant Seat Covers who did a fantastic job creating the decor for the venue. And finally the cake that looked almost too stunning to eat was made by Luisa Galuppo Cakes.

Needless to say Magda and I absolutely adore Iza and Eddy (and their tiny Yorkie Cooper!) and we wish them a lifetime of happiness together and we hope to see you guys and maybe even your families soon!

Tanya + Nathanael | Montreal Old Port Wedding

If there’s one word that I could use to describe Tanya and Nathanael, it would be determined, and we love that. They are a couple that know exactly what they wanted for their wedding day, and they weren’t going to stop until they got it. I guess I could say the same about their relationship too! Tears rolled down cheeks during Nathanael’s touching speech as he paused every second word to hold back tears of joy. Everyone in the room felt the sincerity of every word uttered by both of them as they shared their deepest feelings.

We had the pleasure of first hanging out with Tanya and Nathanael when we photographed their engagement photo session in April. It’s quite obvious these two must have been models at some point in their lives, and if they weren’t…they really should be, and both of them put us to shame in terms of their style. We absolutely love Tanya’s beautiful gown and Nathanael’s dapper grey suit with killer light brown shoes (he even had the groomsmen’s shoes matching!).

The reception was held at Le Madison, we have to commend the staff because they were exceptionally helpful and caring. Beautiful flower arrangements and bouquets were provided by Luluthia, the head table sofa was from Joe’s Prop House and finally the amazing cake was done by Patisserie Maison Mallet. Tanya and Nathanael wanted nothing more but to capture Montreal’s essence, and what better way to do that than to shoot the photos at the stunning Old Port of Montreal! We had quite a long scare of showers all week long but literally right after the ceremony…it cleared up. We couldn’t believe it!

Wow, I seem to be getting longer and longer in our blog posts so I’ll wrap it up by saying how absolutely thrilled we are to have met and worked with such a kind couple and we wish them both a long and incredibly happy marriage! And as always, here are some of our favourite photos from their day…enjoy:

Beatrice + Bastian | Wedding at Île-des-Soeurs, Montreal

Lächeln! That’s the German word we ended up saying pretty much all day long. Why? Because it means “Smile”! :) And boy were a lot of people doing that last weekend. Beatrice is from Switzerland and Bastian is from Germany, and since I (Bartek) used to live there for a few years when I was younger, a lot of words ended up coming back to me! We made all the German guests laugh quite a bit while shooting throughout the day by attempting to put together phrases…but most likely ending up embarrassing ourselves in the process.

Beatrice and Bastian’s ceremony was at St-Willibrord Parrish here in Verdun and their reception was at the really intimate rooftop terrace of the Hilton Bonaventure. You’re around 20 stories up on the rooftop in Montreal but because of all the trees, ponds and ducks you would have never guessed you were downtown. We took them on a little photo shoot on the original Nun’s Island in Montreal which was a first for us and we took advantage of some beautiful blooming trees and amazing weather!

We would like to wish Beatrice and Bastian a lifetime of happiness and here are a handful of our favourite images from their wedding day…

Nardia + Mike – Wedding at La Vignoble Chapelle Ste Agnès

I really don’t know where to start because we are so excited about this wedding. Firstly, it’s Magda and I’s first wedding of 2011 which in itself is something that we should celebrate with an abundance of champagne but there are a ton of other reasons why we couldn’t wait to shoot it. Nardia and Mike are probably two of the most genuine and loving people we have ever met. They have this honest sincerity and incredibly kind hearts that is really humbling. When they first came by our home to meet with us we immediately fell in love with Nardia’s infectious smile and positivity and Mike’s adorable shyness and curiosity.

The day started off at Montreal’s Aveda Salon and Spa which was pretty cool for Magda because she is very familiar with the place and staff as she gets her hair done there as well! Another reason to get excited about was the fact that they chose to get married at the fascinating Chapelle Ste Agnès vineyard in Sutton, Quebec just about two hours away from Montreal. We have never been there so it was quite a sight for our eyes to see the beautiful rolling hills, quiet streets and of course the vineyard itself. It was built in 1993 by Henrietta Antony who is an incredible woman. This place has been a labour of love for her for many years, as well as owning one of the biggest (if not the biggest) antique stores in Westmount in Montreal (visit www.henrietta-antony.com if you don’t believe me!). Talking to her was one our highlights of the day and we would have happily went into the wee hours of the morning just listening to her history, but we had a beautiful wedding to shoot!

We wish Nardia and Mike the most wonderful life together and we leave you with a handful of our favourite photos we shot during the day. Be sure to play the slideshow at the bottom of the post to see even more!

Aleksander – Ottawa Family Portrait Session

In 2008 we were so excited to be the official photographers at Ellora and Esban’s gorgeous four day Indian/Danish wedding! Just last week we had the honor to photograph their beautiful new 3 person family with Aleksander being the new addition! How cool is that? After getting married in Ottawa they now live in Denmark but they flew in to visit family for a few weeks. We only had a small window to pick the perfect day in the Byward Market in Ottawa to shoot their family portraits and thankfully we lucked out with a beautifully sunny day. It brought tears to our eyes to see them so happy together with their son. It truly is incredible to be able to witness and photograph a new couple in love who get married and years later get a chance to see it continuing to grow into something so precious. Magda and I are looking forward to one day flying to Denmark to photograph Aleksander tying the knot! I leave you with a handful of the many, many photos we shot of this adorable trio…
