Tanya + Nathanael | Montreal Engagement Session

We fell in love with this couple as soon as they came by for their first meeting with us. They have such genuine chemistry it could make pretty much anyone jealous! So it goes without saying Magda and I couldn’t wait for the day we would finally be able to take Tanya and Nathanael’s photos.

That day happened to be this past Friday when we took a little trip to meet them in a cute little town just west of Montreal called Sainte-Anne-De-Bellevue. Unfortunately it was really cold but Tanya was having none of that and braved one hour of freezing in her stunning new dress she had just picked out for this day! We think you’ll agree Nathanael was quite a match for Tanya as well.

We can’t wait for their wedding on May 28th! Here are a bunch of our favourite shots from the cold, but really fun day…

Marie-France + Clint | Engaged

We love a bride who knows exactly what she wants, and Marie-France is one of them! She came in to our meeting with us a while back full of confidence, an awesome attitude and a ton of fantastic ideas. Pretty much from the very beginning we hit it off, and we hadn’t even met Clint yet! Marie-France really wanted branches and trees incorporated into their engagement photos, so we suggested doing the shoot in Angell Woods here on the west island of Montreal. Magda and I walk our dogs here and we have been wanting to do a shoot here for a long time so this was perfect!

Their wedding will be held at one of Montreal’s St.Paul street’s small and cozy art galleries and will be very unique and full of artistic flair. It will also be planned by the wonderful Azar from Principal Planner and we cannot wait to be a part of it!

We hope you enjoy these photos as much as we enjoyed taking them.

constance + david

This is a wedding I’ve been waiting to put up on the blog for a while now! I never thought it would happen, but it did…my friend Dave got married to a really fun loving girl named Constance! The wedding was small, original and quirky just like them and it was hosted on the Île Notre-Dame around Parc Jean-Drapeau in Montreal. The island is famous for hosting the Canadian Gran Prix every year! At that time of the year the greenery and flowers were still blooming which made for some awesome bright and colorful scenery for these photos. Congrats you guys, and I leave you off with some of our favourite photos of the day.

ethan – newborn photo session

Well that was fast! One day we’re shooting Jennifer and her family for a pre-baby photo session and before we knew it out popped little Ethan, and we were there a couple weeks later to capture his little tinyness. The room is pefect. Cozy, bright and Ethan looks to be fitting in just right with his new family! The little guy can’t even hold his head up yet but he still managed to smile for our cameras! Congratulations to you guys and we hope he grows into a healthy and smart boy. It was a real pleasure spending time with you four! Here are a few of our favourite shots from the day…

Dominican Republic – Iberostar Hacienda Dominicus

It was time for a serious break from reality, so we decided to go to a beach and do nothing for a week! We had two choices. Either go travelling to some beautiful hot country, sight-see and soak in the culture, but that would require a lot of energy which we simply didn’t possess anymore. Or find an all inclusive resort and just turn off and enjoy the beach, water and hot weather. And that’s just what we did after finding the amazing Iberostar Hacienda Dominicus resort in the Dominican Republic. The resort sits on the southern part of the island facing the Caribbean Sea so the water was always the perfect temperature and generally cowabunga. The photos online of the hotel really don’t do it justice but we trusted ridiculous number of positive reviews we found on Trip Advisor, and boy were people right. The people, the service, the lush tropical gardens, the layout, the food, the white powder beach were all incredible. We honestly clued out of time and days of the week and just tanned, snorkeled, swam in the warm sea and enjoyed countless Pina Coladas and Mamajuana (which, if you haven’t had the pleasure to try it yet, is the local Dominican drink made from some crazy roots and funky leaves). We saw some lucky photographer shoot a wedding on the beach one day at sunset and we would love to come back and do the same one day. Any takers? ;) I leave you with a few photos we shot of some of the details from the resort, our Klementine and other things. We hope you like! And we can’t wait to go back…

First let me show you some of the gorgeous things they had in the gardens…

These bananas grew in the courtyard of our building and when they ripened, they were cut down and served for breakfast at the buffet!

The building on the left was one of the restaurants:

This was the lonely flamingo in the pond. What fascinatingly shaped creatures, check out the way the beak opens!

Our building!

The lobby area. For you photographers, I shot this with a 50mm lens @ f16, iso50 exposed for 16seconds, which would explain why anything moving looks ghostly :)

iberostar_hacienda_dominicus_bayahibe_wedding_008.jpg

The buffet had these wicked chimney intakes on the left leading up to a jumbo chimney! And did I mention the staff was super awesome?

Carlos! Our ultra-friendly waiter

The main landmark of the hotel was this lighthouse which was right on the beach and conveniently had a bar at the bottom.

And here are some photos from the beach…

iberostar_hacienda_dominicus_bayahibe_wedding_007.jpg

Klementine really didn’t mind the salty water getting in her eyes or mouth, she was too pre-occupied with catching the waves. I think I may have a surfer brewing.

iberostar_hacienda_dominicus_bayahibe_wedding_017.jpg

She later found an adorable same-aged girl with whom she played with all the time, it was adorable.

I took the Catamaran out pretty much every day which was so much fun. I wish I could continue doing that but the St.Lawrence river here in Montreal is just a tad frozen right now. Oh, and I don’t have a Catamaran.

Pelicans. And a plane.

iberostar_hacienda_dominicus_bayahibe_wedding_012.jpg

We took our little underwater camera too (doesn’t compare to our real gear but still cool!)

We took a little trip to the nearby town of La Romana and I snapped a few shots of some interesting textures and stuff:

And finally, I don’t usually like sunset photos but this one I like. Thanks for visiting, we appreciate it! :)
