Marie + Toni – a West Island engagement

What do you get when you take a beautiful and stylish girl, her fiance who is passionate about cooking, a bottle of wine, us, and some beautiful sunshine? A ridiculously fun time is what!

Marie and Toni booked us for their wedding a while ago but first they wanted to get comfortable in front of the camera with us. However, I have a suspicion that was just an excuse to get some fun photos since they didn’t need any practice…

We invited them by our place on Montreal’s West Island and shot in a variety of awesome locations. Starting off in a romantic field, then through the Pointe Claire Village and then ending off at the Beaconsfield Yacht Club. It was such a fun experience since we felt like we were hanging out with some old friends and after the shoot they stayed for some delicious Amir sandwiches, good bourbon and amazing conversation.

If this is foreshadowing what their wedding is going to be like then we are in for quite a treat. Here are a few of our favourite images from the day! Aren’t they just adorable?

Oh, and you must check out Marie’s blog dedicated to all things pretty and beautiful design: Blushing and Sweet

Devon + David | A Wedding in Montreal at Plaza Antique

It’s impossible not to feel good around Devon and Dave. Every time we got together with them they were all smiles and happy about life. We had the pleasure of first photographing this bubbly couple on their pre-wedding shoot last fall (check it out here!), but it was finally time to get down to business and get them married!

They chose to have their reception at the Plaza Antique which was lit and decorated beautifully and fit them perfectly. Our friend Azar from Principal Planner is one of Devon’s best friends and it was really cool to see her in the bridal party rather than running around behind the scenes for once. But she still couldn’t help herself and a large part of the reception looking the way it did was due to her talent.

Did I mention it was ridiculously cold? Because it was. And 30km/h winds to add! I have no idea how they did it but it doesn’t show and we were so proud of everybody for toughing it out. Magda and I wore gloves and winter jackets while the girls did amazing in their dresses…and I think it was totally worth it.

After meeting their families and getting to know them better, I have a feeling these two will have a fantastic life together. We wish you guys all the best and we thank you for having us there to capture your day! I leave you with a few of our favourite images from the day and don’t forget to view the slideshow for a ton more photos as well as some wedding photo booth action!

Katie + Dan | A Magical Vintage Engagement

Sometimes everything falls into place just right, and our relationship with Katie and Dan is a perfect example of that. We hit it off right away with them and so far it’s been a magical ride.

When we found out their wedding was going to be MadMen themed we were thrilled. We could just picture it…whiskey tumblers, lucky strikes, skinny ties, hair pomade and old fashioned drinks…We fell in love.

Katie and Dan wanted to have their pre-wedding photoshoot also themed the same way and they weren’t skimping on any details! Katie went to authentic vintage shops and bought two adorable vintage dresses, gloves and even heels. Dan dressed the part to match with two fantastic outfits too! Magda and I are both huge fans of MadMen having watched all seasons and eagerly trying to catch up with season 5, so our brains started working in overtime for this shoot. We really wanted to find a spot that reflected the era and would create a believable and romantic atmosphere.

After many days of searching and scouting we finally discovered McDougall Manor here in Montreal. A 1920′s mansion with grounds that matched our vision to the tee.

All Katie and Dan had to do was get within two feet of each other and their love took over. It was really hard not to swoon looking at these two. And Tobey was quite the hansome canine too I might add!

I’ll leave you with our favourite images from the whimsical day we spent with Katie and Dan, and if this is what we came back with from the engagement shoot…I can only dream of what will be at the wedding…

Kim + Jason | a west island wedding

It’s not every day that we get to drive down the street to both the bride and groom’s house for getting ready photos! Well, that’s what happened the morning of Kim and Jason’s wedding right here on the West Island of Montreal which we proudly call home.

When we arrived at both their beautiful family homes, Magda and I were both immediately welcomed in with warm hugs as though we have known everyone for years. It was a really sweet atmosphere because getting married at a similar age that we did, it reminded us of our own wedding and how we felt ten years ago. The anxious excitement and love between everyone in the morning was hard to ignore so when it came time to walk down the aisle, you can imagine the electricity in the air.

After a beautiful time taking photos at Cap St. Jacques Farm, we headed over to the reception. Tearful words were said and later on, people danced up a storm while also taking some crazy photo booth photos! We would like to thank Kim, Jason and both their families for having us there during the day. It was a real pleasure and we wish the newlyweds a beautiful life together! We leave you with our favourite moments of the day below. Enjoy!

Natalia + Felix – A wedding in Berlin

It has been a while since we last posted on our blog and there’s a good reason for that. We had the off season for weddings and most recently we came back from a fantastic six week road trip covering Eastern Europe.

Among the incredible sights of Poland, Berlin, Bavaria and the Czech Republic, we were also guests at Natalia and Felix’s beautiful wedding.

It was a stunning day. The sun came out and the temperature was just right…not too cold and not too hot. We were lucky because the days surrounding the wedding were iffy and had everyone slightly worried. We found beautiful gardens with a long trellis on the grounds of a store called the Villa Harteneck where we took Natalia and Felix for a relaxed portrait session. The reception was held at the ultra modern and sleek Stilwerk building overlooking Berlin from the top floor. The party was complete with Polish vodka, German beer and incredible performances by Felix’s relatives on brass and string instruments… They are a very talented bunch, including Felix’s sister who sang so beautifully at church and at the reception that it gave us goose bumps.

Seeing Natalia get married was quite special for Magda as she has known Natalia since they were very little girls. We had met Felix a few years ago when we flew to Germany and we right away knew why she fell in love.  All it takes is to glance at them together and you can see how in love they really are. Natalia and Felix, we wish you a lifetime of happiness together and we thank both your wonderful families for making us feel at home.

I leave you with a few photos from the day; mainly the portrait session, as we were quite busy partying the other times of the day ;)

Well, I guess that officially kicks off our 2012 wedding season! We are super excited for all our brides and grooms this year and we can’t wait to share our images with you all. Thank you for visiting and enjoy the photos…
